Criminal record
Criminal record is a persistent counter separate from day-to-day wanted pressure. It summarizes how “heavy” your legal history is across the run.
When it increases
On first imprisonment for a sentence, the game adds your current remaining sentence into criminal record at the moment you are processed into prison. Longer stacked sentences before capture mean a bigger permanent jump.
Criminal record does not tick down automatically when you leave prison. It is a lifetime ledger, not a second sentence timer.
How it relates to other crime state
| Concept | Relationship |
|---|---|
| Remaining sentence | Working clock for wanted / prison time; can hit 0 after release or legal reduction |
| Wanted | Clears when remaining sentence is 0 (outside prison) |
| In prison | No longer true after release or escape |
| Criminal record | Accumulates; long-term stain on your history |
Gameplay effects (high level)
Exact uses can expand with updates, but design intent is clear:
- Story weight — repeat offender fantasy; pairs with achievements like extreme sentences (100+ days on intake can flag Public Enemy-style recognition)
- Module flavor — future jobs, loans, or events can read record severity
Do not confuse criminal record with Prison Rep. Rep is inside-prison influence and deactivates when you leave; record stays on the character sheet.
Player takeaway
If you care about a “clean” legacy character, avoid stacking crime days before arrest. If you are min-maxing prison content, expect record to spike once you finally go in — plan the rest of your run around being an ex-con narratively.
