Collections & auctions
The collections system lets you buy and sell valuable items — art, antiques, coins, watches, wine, and sports memorabilia — through auctions. Unlike stocks, collectibles have a hidden real value that you can only discover through appraisals, and their value grows over time. Access collections from the Assets menu (third tab).
Getting started
To start collecting, open the Assets panel and tap Collections. The Auctions tab shows 5–8 items available for bidding, refreshed every few days.
Buy a mobile phone from the Electronics Shop to receive collection news alerts. Without one, market events that affect collectible values will happen silently.
Categories & items
There are 21 collectible items across 6 categories:
| Category | Items | Price range | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Art | Oil Painting, Abstract Sculpture, Renaissance Replica | 2,000 – 12,000 | Medium volatility |
| Antiques | Antique Clock, Porcelain Vase, Victorian Desk | 1,500 – 8,000 | Low volatility, stable |
| Coins | Silver Dollar, Gold Sovereign, Ancient Roman Coin | 800 – 15,000 | Low volatility |
| Watches | Vintage Diver, Chronograph, Grand Complication | 3,000 – 25,000 | Medium volatility |
| Wine | Bordeaux Reserve, Burgundy Premier, Champagne Vintage | 500 – 8,000 | Appreciates with age |
| Memorabilia | Signed Jersey, Championship Ring, Game Ball | 1,000 – 20,000 | High volatility |
Each item has a rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary) and a condition rating that affects its value.
Condition ratings
Every item has a condition score (30–100) shown as a dot meter:
| Condition | Dots | Value impact |
|---|---|---|
| Pristine (90–100) | ●●●●● | Maximum value |
| Excellent (70–89) | ●●●●○ | High value |
| Good (50–69) | ●●●○○ | Average value |
| Fair (30–49) | ●●○○○ | Below average |
| Poor (below 30) | ●○○○○ | Minimum value |
Wine is special — its condition improves over time (aging), while other items have a small daily chance of degrading.
Buying at auction
Each auction listing shows the starting bid, category, rarity, and condition. To bid:
- Tap the Bid button on any listing.
- A bidding mini-game starts — you compete against 2–5 AI bidders in real-time.
- Press the bid button to raise your offer. AI bidders will counter with their own bids.
- The auction ends when the timer runs out. Whoever has the highest bid wins.
You can only bid once per day on each listing. After bidding, the button turns gray until the next day.
AI bidders can be aggressive — some will bid above the item's real value. If you get caught in a bidding war, you might overpay. Don't bid more than you're willing to lose.
If your money runs out mid-auction, the bid button will disable and show "Not Enough Money". The auction continues — if you were already leading, you can still win.
Gem skip
You can skip the bidding mini-game by spending gems (3–15 depending on item value). This automatically wins the auction at the starting bid price — a great deal on expensive items.
Appraising your collection
After buying, your item's real value is hidden. You need to appraise it before you can sell:
- Free Appraise — gives an estimated value range (wider, less precise).
- Expert Appraise (1 gem) — gives a tighter, more accurate value range.
Appraisal unlocks the sell buttons. Without it, you can only see the purchase price and condition.
Always appraise before selling. The appraisal range updates daily as the item's value changes, so check it before listing.
Selling
Once appraised, you have two ways to sell:
Auction sale
Tap Sell at Auction to list your item. You set a minimum price, then watch an animated auction where AI buyers bid against each other.
- AI bids up to 85–110% of the real value.
- If you set a very low minimum price, there's a 30% chance AI snags it cheap — they won't always bid it up.
- If you set the price too high (above 120% of real value), nobody will bid and the item won't sell.
- You can only attempt to sell each item once per week (7-day cooldown).
Instant sell (gems)
Tap Instant Sell to sell immediately at the item's full real value. Costs 3–15 gems depending on the item's value. No cooldown, no waiting, no risk.
Making profit
The key to profit is patience. Collectibles appreciate in value every day:
- All items gain a small daily appreciation (roughly 0.05–0.15% per day).
- Wine also improves in condition over time, further boosting its value.
- News events can temporarily boost or crash category prices.
A freshly bought item sold immediately will typically sell near what you paid. Hold it for weeks or months, and the accumulated appreciation can mean significant profit.
Buy low, hold long, sell high. Look for items with low starting bids (especially during negative news events), buy them cheap, then hold for many days. Once the value has appreciated well above your purchase price, list it at auction or use instant sell.
News events
If you have a mobile phone, you'll see a news banner on the Auctions tab showing active market events:
- Art surge — art values spike for 5 days
- Forgery scandal — art values drop for 4 days
- Celebrity auction — memorabilia values rise for 3 days
- Wine frost damage — wine scarcity drives prices up for 5 days
- Economic downturn — all categories drop for 4 days
- Auction record — all categories get a small boost for 3 days
Use negative events as buy signals and positive events as sell signals.
