Electronics

Electronics cover phones, computers, radios, and gadgets that unlock connectivity, career actions, or crime utilities. Many are passive (carry to enable features); some are usable with charges or risk.

Phones

Regular and specialty phones may enable calls, social shortcuts, or crime perks (for example, untraceable or smuggled variants tied to risk). Prison phones are powerful but can trigger searches, confiscation, or extra sentence—treat them as high-stakes tools, not toys.

Computers and internet

Computers (often paired with internet effects) unlock developer work, computer skill training, and digital side content. Buy them when you commit to tech careers; they are poor impulse purchases for a purely manual job path.

Gaming PC

The gaming PC ($2,500) is a premium computer available at the electronics shop. It provides internet access like a laptop but also boosts streaming performance — higher viewer counts, better earnings, and an easier Go Live mini-game.

You can upgrade the gaming PC up to level 5 at the electronics shop. Each level costs the current level × $500 and improves streaming bonuses further. Maxing it out unlocks the Ultimate Setup achievement.

If you plan to pursue the streamer career, invest in a gaming PC early. The performance difference over a laptop is significant and each upgrade pays for itself quickly through better stream earnings.

Other gear

Radios, police scanners, and similar items skew toward morale, information, or evasion bonuses. Expect trade-offs—confiscation chances in restricted areas, decay, or ongoing money costs. When an item description mentions easier escape or witness reduction, it is usually aimed at crime arcs rather than everyday convenience.

Align electronics with your job: developers want a stable computer + internet stack; criminals may prioritize black-market phones. Do not carry smuggled prison phones during heavy shakedown weeks unless you have a stash or accept the sentence risk.

Gem-priced electronics are optional accelerants; core story content is usually reachable without them.
